Day 29

Today I decided this is THE day for a hike since blue sky and warm weather were promised. So we went to the even more rural Canton of Glarus where my mom grew up (and her ancestors all the way to the beginning of Switzerland). Fronalpstock was my choice since I found out that the hike to the top is doable even for us Utahns without much practice but really even more so because the rates for a sleep over in their mountain hostel was affordable. Even though I have so many pictures posted, I'm not even cutting a dent in my picture collection. It was sensational.

This is as far as Tristan made it. It was a fight getting him even this high... but after he saw the cliffs and the possible danger, there was nothing I could have bribed him with.

Made it to the very top! And so did hundreds of flies. Talon could not sit nor stand still. He was freaking out.

Got him though

Talon couldn't get that camera still... because of the flies.

My victory treat. My first almond croissant. It tasted at least as good as my victory pride felt.

And more wildflowers

Talon's wish to pet a cow came true

Time for chilling. All those beds all for us.

Special Rösti dinner plate for Perrin. Gluten free.

Day 28

Sunday after visiting my childhood church ward in St.Gallen, we wanted to take advantage of the good weather by visiting the more rural parts of Switzerland. A diamond in the rough really, as these parts aren't visited as frequently by tourists as other parts even though it's beautiful! My oldest brother was kind enough to let us stay in his for now abandoned house.

The familiar little tunnel above my old house

Off to Thurwasserfälle. My twin brother's suggestion. Nice to have family that are locals...
