Day 45, Roskilde

We arrived to a rainy Denmark. My uncle Bo was kind enough to let us stay in his summer house for two nights. The next day looked promising though. We decided we were going to check out the Viking musem in Roskilde instead of the beach. I'm too OCD to spend a day at a beach anyway.

The 5 Viking ships displayed were discovered and excavated in 1962 in their own Fjord well preserved.

Replica

In this workstation they replicate the workmanship of old. Down to hand carving the wood planks with hand made tools only and making nails from scratch as well. It was mesmerizing watching.

Perrin the Feared

Little playground break, then off to the town's Domkirke, the oldest Scandinavian Gothic brick cathedral. 39 former kings and queens have been buried in there since the 15th century. Obviously, there wasn't enough space in the original part so they have been extending in places. But still exceptionally cool this church.
