After a long drive on a very busy Autobahn we arrived late at the Freiberg temple. We had made room reservations and needed to be there before they closed at 23:00 and so we skipped dinner which seemed like a fine idea at the time. But the temple lady Loggins talked to on the phone didn't mention that there was no cafeteria on site, nor did she mention it cost quite a chunk to spend the night at the temple. In fact, she didn't tell us anything that would have been helpful to know, like how we could obtain keys to our rooms if we arrived later than 19:00. Would all have been helpful since we were looking for keys for 1 hour still after arriving and were all starving. There was a kitchen available. The Czech members visiting as well were all cooking nice meals in there while we salivating down their backs because we had nothing (stores are closed after 20:00). We dipped into our emergency storage consisting of warm UHT milk and cereal. If you are hungry, even warm milk in cereal tastes good. We were awoken finding out we had to pay for our stay and only had another 5 minutes to do so. That got us awake a bit.
Next stop: Köthen. My niece, sister Mogensen is currently serving a full time mission there. We just had to visit with her for a little to see how she is doing. She was cute, happy and ready to head back home in just a few weeks.
Next: Eisenhüttenstadt, a no-man's German town bordering Poland but Loggins' favorite place while serving his mission in Berlin.
