Day 60, Schloss Sargans and the little country of Liechtenstein

After dropping off Loggins at the Airport in Zürich, I wanted to get the kids out of my sister's house. They have gotten too comfortable at my sister's house and started their old habits of playing games all day since getting a laptop from their cousin. A little force needed at this point to get them out.

Today on the list is the more famous castle of Sargans a little deeper into the Eastern part of Switzerland set near the valley between a curtain of majestic mountains. I heard that one of my descendants was once the governor of this castle and got his name coat of arms painted on the wall (between all the other significant governors and owners) in their knight"s hall. So of course I had to go see that. Sadly the clouds did not have time to dissipate so the whole effect of majestic was a little muted.

Okay, so the castle was quite interesting to look at (even for the kids for like 15 minutes) but I wouldn't feel satisfied until I got to see the coat of armor and that I could only do after paying an entrance fee to the museum. The kids were not really interested (which I've seen plenty of times in the past) and I am too cheep to pay if they don't appreciate it. And so I told them to pick the wild blackberries down the street while I spend the next 10 minutes in the museum taking a quick picture of my forefather's painting on the wall. Little did I know that the museum was so interesting... I rushed through all the rooms and all the way to the top of the castle where there was an amazing view of the town sitting at the foot of the castle. I found myself 45 minutes in there rushing to get through everything, knowing the kids were probably outside bored out of their minds doing who knows what mieschief and blaming me for taking so long.

 Love old Rifles as well...

Okay. So here it is. Baltasar Gallati was the governor in 1629 for 8 months

Beautiful knight's hall set up for weddings. I wouldn't mind getting married here instead of a plain ward gym.

Found one more memory of Baltasar. So he is acknowledged in two places.
